Charter Trip Driver (School Bus)

 

The school athletics and field trip drivers perform a critical role within the Klein Transportation company by transporting student sports teams to and from their games and practices. These drivers generally only need to be available in the afternoons. Most trips run from around 1:30pm in the afternoon until around 8:00pm when the sports teams are returned to their school of origin. This is a great job for retired persons, former and brand new truck drivers, and aspiring motorcoach drivers.

 

The successful candidate will enjoy supporting students in their sports endeavors. This is a great job for former or current coaches, teachers, and school administrators. Drivers with a CDL or large vehicle driving experience are preferred but Klein Transportation's experienced training department can train and test applicants to obtain their CDL and passenger endorsement.

Current school sports contracts include Daniel Boone Area School District, The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA, Kutztown University, and many others.

Charter Trip Driver Job Description

 

Safely operate school buses to transport passengers at the direction of a dispatcher or other company official.

 

Job Types Available: Full-Time, Part-Time, and/or Occasional

Pay $17.45 - $19.35 per hour

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Safely transport passengers to assigned destinations

• Prepare for each trip utilizing maps, written directions, GPS, etc.

• Research and be familiar with each destination and route before departure

• Communicate with dispatchers to ensure trips are run exactly as the group leader or tour planner has specified

• Provide the utmost in customer service by maintaining clear and polite conversation with group leaders, teachers, coaches and school officials

• Complete driver paperwork and electronic logs during and at end of trip

• Perform complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections before and after each trip and whenever necessary

• Use electronic logging devices to maintain federal Hours-of-Service compliance

• Participate in all driver meetings, submit to all necessary testing, reviews and training

• Support athletic, academic or musical passengers in their endeavors - pre and post trip! 

 

Qualifications

 

• Willingness to obtain a Class B CDL license with Passenger Endorsement

• DOT physical exam and pre-employment drug test

• A satisfactory driving record

• Good interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

• Ability to work closely with others

 

Experience/Education/Requirements

 

• High school or equivalent (required)

• Work authorization in United States (required)
